2nd theatre built 1816-1819 as "Théâtre Royal" by Luois Emmanuel Aimé Damesme, on a neighbouring site. Opened 25 May 1819 with M. Bernard's prologue "Momus á la nouvelle salle" and Grétry's opera "La Caravane de Caire". Destroyed by a fire on 21 Jan 1855.
