Liberecka (formerly Reichsstraße) Built 1906-1907 as "Stadttheater" for the city of Gablonz by Ferdinand Fellner & Hermann Helmer. 585 seats, 236 standing. Opened 21 Sep 1907 with Beethoven's "Weihe des Hauses", Strauß's "Fledermaus Ouverture" and Gustav Kadelberg and Richard Skowronek's operetta "Husarenfieber". 1945 renamed "Divadlo Julia Fucika", in honour of the Czech journalist and author, Julius Fucik (1903-1943), not the Czech composer of the same name (1872-1914). Renovations in 1964-1965 and 1995-1998. 1998 renamed "Mestské divadlo" (Municipal Theatre). Link: www.divadlojablonec.cz |
