Country: Greece (Ellás) City: Athínai Location: south-west part of the Acropolis [Odeon/Odeum of Herodes Atticus] Ancient Greek concert building, built ca. 161 for Herodes Atticus, a wealthy citizen of Athens, in memory of his late wife. Originally covered by a roof. 267 destroyed by the Hirullians. Restored in the 1950s. Currently used for theatre performances and concerts by the Athens Summer Festival. Ca. 5000-6000 seats. |
