Palace of Culture and Science, built 1952-1955 as "Palac Kultury i Nauki im. J. Stalina". A gift to the Polish people by the Soviet Union, the complex was originally named in honour of the Soviet leader, Joseph Stalin. Tallest building in Warsaw (230 m + 42 m top needle; 42 floors). The complex includes a congress hall with 3000 seats, four theatres, three cinemas, three museums, three restaurants, cafés, a public swimming pool and offices.
