Built 1781 by Nicolas Lenoir. Main venue of the Paris Opéra from 27 Oct 1781 until August 1794. Destroyed by fire on 25 May 1870 during the Commune de Paris era. 1873, a new Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin was opened on the site.
