Built 1891-1893 as "Stadttheater" by Bernhard Schreiber. Opened 2 April 1893 with Goethe's "Egmont". 1951-1952 and 1976-1981 renovations. 1981 renamed in honour of the Austrian/German actor, Eduard von Winterstein (1871-1961). 300 seats, studio stage with 99 seats.
