Built 1745-1750 by Joseph Saint-Pierre (exterior) and Giuseppe and Carlo Galli-Bibiena (interior) for Margrave Friedrich of Brandenburg-Bayreuth and Margrave Wilhelmine of Brandenburg-Bayreuth. Opened 23 Sep 1748 with J. A. Hasse's opera "Ezio". Renovated 1820, 1935-1936, 1977-1980 and 2012-2018. 490 seats (+ 16 standing).
