Built 1988-1992 by Claude Paillard, incorporating some remains of the "Cumberlandsche Galerie" (a museum built 1883–1886 by Otto Goetze). Opened 1992. Used for drama performances by the resident state drama company. The complex contains the main theatre hall (630 seats), the studio theatre "Cumberlandsche Bühne" (200 seats) and a theatre museum.
