Built 1953 as cinema and variety theatre. Named after the nickname of the location, the "Aegidientorplatz" square. Also used for drama and operetta performances by Thalia-Theater and Landesbühne Hannover. Destroyed by a fire in 1964. Subsequently rebuilt. Re-opened 1967 as drama theatre. 1978 rebuilding of façade. Since 1994, operated as a private theatre. Used as a guest venue for opera, operetta, musical, ballet, drama, variety, and cabaret performances. Also used for concerts and small congresses. 1168 seats.
