Opened 1 Oct 1907 with Beethoven's "Fidelio". 1943-1944 destroyed by bombs, with only the exterior walls surviving. 1952-1953 rebuilding to modern designs by Heinrich Hansen, Guido Widmann, and Werner Kallmorgen. Stage house by Adolf Zotzmann. Used for opera performances by the resident company. 960 seats. Notable world premieres:
