Built 1880-1887 by Andrea Scala and Carlo Sada. Ceiling painting by Ernesto Bellandi, painted curtain by Giuseppe Sciuti. Named in hounour of the Catania-born composer, Vincenzo Bellini (1801-1835). Opened 31 May 1890 with Bellini's "Norma" (after three years of waiting after completion, due to a cholera epidemic). Used for opera performances and concerts. 1300 seats.
