Built 1856-1881 by Enrico Alvino and Giuseppe Pisanti. Opened 26 Jan 1881 with Giuseppe Verdi's opera "La Traviata. 361 seats. Named after the Italian composer, Francesco Stabile (1801-1860), who lived in Potenza. [Note: In all other Italian theatre names, the word "Stabile" means "steady/stable/permanent" as in "theatre with a permanent ensemble".]
