Ancient Roman amphitheatre (not a theatre!), built c. 30 AD. Occasional theatre and circus performances in modern times. Currently used for an annual summer opera festival that opened on 10 August 1913 with Verdi's "Aida". 23,000 seats (opera performances now with a maximum of 15,000 seats).
