Built 1716-1729 by Francesco Galli da Bibbiena. Opened 6 Jan 1732 with the world premiere of Antonio Vivaldi's opera "La Fida Ninfa". Damaged by fire on 21 Jan 1749. 1749-1753 rebuilding. Damaged by bombs on 23 Feb 1945. 1945-1975 rebuilding to the original plans. Reopened 1975 with Antonio Salieri's opera " Falstaff, ossia le tre burle". 1200 seats.
