Anastacia Tooke wrote: "[The] stage looks much like the auditorium/gymnasium of a catholic school in Seattle WA. I don't recall the name of the school as I was only there to Chaperone a dance for another Catholic school. The painting on the wall is what triggered my memory. A theatre auditorium, used as a military hospital, probably during World War I. If you recognize this theatre, please send me an e-mail message! Type: Real Photo Size: Classic (scanned with 200 dpi) Not sent. |
This looks somewhat like a French or Belgian theatre or "Salle des Fêtes". As indicated on the postcard back, it was used as "German Theatre", probably during German occupation in World War I (or maybe World War II). The sign on the building to the left says "Offiziers-Haus" [Officers' Building]. If you know the city, please send me an e-mail message! Picture: [the red frame was inserted in the computer file, it is not to be found on the original postcard!] Handwritten Reverse Text: "x Deutsches Theater, augenblicklich spielen Berliner Schauspieler hier" [(The building marked with an x is...) the German Theatre. At the moment, actors from Berlin are playing here.] Publisher: Aufn. u. Verl. Rich. Spelling, Berlin W. 50. Würzburgerstr. 1a; No. 879 Type: Divided Back Size: Classic (scanned with 200 dpi) Not sent. |
