Pleasure pier, built 1892-1893 as "Victoria Pier". The pier featured the multi-purpose "Grand Pavilion" hall (Capacity: 3000 persons) and the "Regal Theatre" near the entrance. 1930 renamed "South Pier". Grand Pavilion damaged by fire in 1958, destroyed by fire in 1964 and subsequently replaced by a new theatre building.
