Built 1932 by Scarborough Corporation. Opened 1932 with "Merrie England". 5876 fixed seats, total capacity: up to 11,000 persons. Seating removed, dressing rooms demolished in 1997. In spite of various attempts to restore and revive the theatre, it is likely to be completely demolished in the near future in the course of a major redevelopment of the surrounding area.
