Opened 7 May 1963 with Shakespeare's "Hamlet", directed by the theater's founder, Sir Tyrone Guthrie. In the late 1960s, extension by rehearsal stage, a set shop, and administrative offices, and integration of Guthrie Theater and Walker Art Center with a single entrance and a common lobby. 1993 renovations and modernization.
