Built 1908-1914 as "Gran Teatro de Tacón" (also known as "Teatro Nacional" and "Palacio del Centro Gallego"), at the site of the previous "Gran Teatro de Tacón" (built 1838, demolished 1908). Later renamed in honour of the Spanish author, Federico García Lorca (1898-1936). Home to the "Ballet Nacional de Cuba".
