Opened 2007 as "National Cultural Center of the Great Saparmurat Turkmenbashi", named after the Turkmen president Saparmurat Niyazov (the self-styled "Turkmenbashi the Great"). 2013 renamed "State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan". The "Mukamov Palace" wing is used for various cultural performances. The complex also contains the national library, a natural history and science museum, and a propagandistic "Presidential Museum".
