After studying at the Vienna Academy, Rössel-Majdan became a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble. However, she achieved her greatest successes on the concert stage and in the oratorio repertory, especially in the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and Gustav Mahler. She worked with famous conductors such as Herbert von Karajan, Hermann Scherchen and Otto Klemperer. In 1962, she is awarded the title of "Kammersängerin". Rössel-Majdan teached oratorio singing at the Graz Musical Academy. In 1972, she was offered a professorship at the Vienna Musikhochschule, where she subsequently worked as a singing professor.
