Otto von Rohr made his debut in 1938 at the Staatstheater Duisburg as Sarastro. In 1941 he joined the ensemble of the Württembergische Staatsoper Stuttgart, where he remained for the subsequent 20 years. Guest appearances took him to La Scala (Milano), the Paris Opera, the Teatro San Carlos in Lisboa, Teatro San Carlo in Napoli and the Maggio Musicale di Firenze Festival. In 1955, he sang at the Salzburger Festspiele in Pfitzner's opera "Palestrina". His stage repertoire was largely centred on Wagner and Mozart roles.
