Built 1896-1898 by Carl Stephann as a ballroom and music hall theatre. Opened 10 Dec 1898 as "Wiener Colosseum". Later mainly used as a variety theatre. 1917 known "Neue Freie Volksbühne", later in 1917 as "Wiener Komödienhaus". 1920 renamed "Metropol-Theater". 1925 major rebuilding, re-opened as a cinema named "Kolosseum" (664 seats). 1945 renamed "Yank Kino", 1955 again named "Kolosseum". Until 1986 sub-divided into seven cinema halls. Closed 2002. Subsequently converted into a supermarket.

[Note: This theatre is not identical with "Schwender's Colosseum" in Mariahilferstraße/Schwendergasse nor with the "Colosseum" variety theatre in Schanzstraße.]
