Built 1908-1909 by Albert Edward Lambert, replacing a former Albert Hall (destroyed by fire). Pipe organ by J.J. Binns. Named in honour of Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Consort Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (1819-1861). Opened 15 Sep 1910. Used as a concert hall and (until 1982) as a Methodist mission. 1987-1988 alterations. Since 1990, used as a conference and concert venue.
